I am enjoying learning more about woodworking and taking on small projects around my house. I spent some time this summer building a router table into my table saw with the help of my brother-in-law. I hope to start building picture frames and learning how to use the lathe.
I am by no means a coding expert - I don't really know any programming languages. I do enjoy taking repetitive tasks and finding better or more efficient ways to accomplish them. Along the way, I use tutorials, web searches, or a phone call to my twin brother to learn and improve. Most of my work is completed in google sheets, google forms, google scripts, or a combination of the three. I also enjoy creating spreadsheets to analyze data - whether it is building student schedules or investigating trends.
Whenever I can, I enjoy traveling. I went to France on a band trip in high school, and my twin brother and I backpacked across Europe for six weeks in the summer of 1999. My wife and I enjoyed an Italian honeymoon, visiting Roma, Firenze, Venezia, and Lago di Como. My brother invited me to spend ten days with him in the United Arab Emirates in the summer of 2011. I took this photo from the top of the Burj Khalifa at dusk.
In addition to world travel, I enjoy exploring the United States. My family and I have been to many cities, national parks, and tourist attractions, and I love a good road trip.
I enjoy listening to a wide variety of music. Jazz, classical, oldies, classic rock, alternative, pop, I like it all! My favorite is 80's music, and that is usually the station I'm listening to on Pandora. I also enjoy going to live shows. I've seen Journey, Depeche Mode, Wang Chung, A Flock of Seagulls, Culture Club, Poison, Cinderella, Mötley Crüe, Doobie Brothers, Everclear, Chicago, and many more.
I play the clarinet, took guitar lessons for a few years, and have taught myself piano. I'd love to learn how to play trombone someday!
I would describe myself as an amateur photographer. I enjoy taking pictures of my family and places to which we travel. I love capturing a scene with no people in it to distract from the object upon which I want the viewer to focus. I have a Nikon D80 DSLR camera, but most days I end up capturing photos with my iphone since that is always on hand.
